SENIOR SPEAKERS
This week's senior speakers were (left to right) Jacob J., Danielle C. and Camille J.
Jacob recounted his experience vaccinating pigs on his family's farm. It took time for him to truly feel like a farmer, but once he embraced his discomfort he found a passion and a true sense of belonging. Danielle spoke about the transition from childhood to adulthood, explaining it doesn't happen in one concrete moment, but over time. Camille talked about how her emotional sensitivity - a trait she hated when she was younger - has since allowed her to accept herself and fight the sexism that made her dislike it in the first place. 6TH GRADE ANALYZES OUR CULTURAL HEALTH
Sixth graders measured the relative health of our culture by analyzing the levels of dignity within a chosen sector, such as education, media or business, and presented their findings at a fair. They weighed the potential impact of gender and racial stereotypes and cultures of humiliation before providing potential solutions for any lack of dignity they observed in their chosen field of study. Topics included social media, the behavior of Middle School students and the cultural impact of television. Read more.

ATHLETICS
With February half over, the winter season is winding down! Read Athletic Director Dick McGrath's Weekly Update here. Boys Varsity Basketball also honored its senior players - Jimmy C., Davis C., Ryan H. and Jacob J. - at last Friday's game against Friends Seminary (ending the evening on a victorious note, beating Friends 57-35). This week, Captain Jimmy C. '16, also scored his 1,000th point and Girls Varsity Basketball captain Leah R. '17 also scored her 1,000th point! Watch Leah's  1,000-point on video here.
KINDERGARTEN RUNS ITS OWN POST OFFICE
Kindergartners in Ms. Misrock-Stein's class have created and are running their own pop-up post office in the Lower School! The students pick up and deliver stamped mail in each classroom.

WORLD AFFAIRS BREAKFAST CLUB TALKS FASHION INDUSTRY
This week's speaker was New York Times Fashion Director and BC Parent Vanessa Friedman. She discussed how the fashion business is evolving to reflect changing times and the financial impact the industry has on NYC. For example, New York Fashion Week, which opened this week, brings up to 230,000 people to the city twice a year and injects up to $900 million into our economy. Read more.

UPPER SCHOOL WIND ENSEMBLE & ORCHESTRA
The Upper School Wind Ensemble and Orchestra (with special guests from the eighth grade on strings) performed at Wednesday night's Instrumental Concert.

5TH GRADE INVESTIGATES BUILDING COLONIES IN SPACE
If we outgrow Earth, where should we resettle the human race? Fifth graders researched this question and showcased their proposals for colonies on the Moon, Mars, Titan and Enceladus this morning (photos). The presentations included scale models of topography, rovers, habitation modules and, in one instance, an ice skating rink. Read more.

LOWER SCHOOL STUDIES HELEN KELLER
As part of the Lower School's ongoing focus on changemakers, kindergartners created a video about author and political activist Helen Keller.

UPPER SCHOOL VISITS BROOKLYN MUSEUM
Freshman and sophomore Drawing and Painting students visited the Brooklyn Museum to see European and American painting exhibits.

5TH GRADE GIVES SCHOOL TOURS IN SPANISH

ZEKE BARDASH '11 RETURNS TO PLAY FOR MUSIC CLASSES
Guitarist Zeke Bardash '11  came by to play some Bach for the instrumental classes. Beautiful artistry.

"MUSIC MAN" REHEARSALS
At their first "The Music Man" rehearsal in the new performance space at Sterling Place, Middle and Upper School students practice their final pose for "76 Trombones."
