GOOD MORNING AMERICA VISITS BERKELEY CARROLL
 Good Morning America stopped by BC on Wednesday to film Upper School Teacher Lauren Links's US History Since 1945 class for an upcoming segment on StoryCorps' Great Thanksgiving Listen, which we are participating in. The crew also filmed Garrett C. '16 using the StoryCorps app to interview his grandmother at her home. (More info next week.)


FORMER STANFORD DEAN & NYT BESTSELLING AUTHOR SPEAKS AT BC
Julie Lythcott-Haims, former Stanford University dean of freshmen and author of New York Times bestseller "How to Raise an Adult," spoke to a large crowd of BC parents Thursday evening.

THIS WEEK'S SENIOR SPEAKERS
Public speaking is considered a core competency at Berkeley Carroll. The curriculum for every grade level, starting in PreK, helps students develop their proficiency in this skill. Our Senior Speakers Program is a true rite of passage for students, requiring every 12th grader to deliver a speech to the entire Upper School, with assemblies held once a week for this purpose.     

This week's senior speakers were (left to right) Lucy E., Elias C. and Jack O.! Lucy spoke about her experiences with insomnia and anxiety ad how she has learned to used the time she has at night to explore new interests. Elias talked about the strong influence his family has had on him.   Jack detailed a series of minor accidents he had on his skateboard.  Read more.


ATHLETICS
This week Volleyball and Girls Soccer teams were both victorious over Spence! JV 
Volleyball won a come-from-behind match 2-1, and Girls' Varsity Soccer edged the Sabers 2-1 (photos).  Boys JV Soccer played a close game and Varsity Soccer & JV and Varsity Volleyball both brought home wins (photos)! LOWER SCHOOL SAYS "LET'S MOVE" & SHOWS HOW TO DO IT
Lower schoolers capped off Let's Move Week this morning with much dancing, exercise and spirit Students have learned about healthy choices and activities throughout the week. They watched a video of faculty members talking about how they stay healthy, heard from upper schoolers on BC's athletic teams and took part in this year's division-wide dance. 1st video and 2nd video. Plus check out the Upper School student-athletes who spoke to their Lower School classmates about what it's like to be an athlete.  
 

SENIORS CONDUCT TITRATION LAB TO IDENTIFY MYSTERY SOLUTION
Seniors completed a titration lab last week, using a solution of known concentration to figure out the concentration of an unknown solution.


WORKING FOR PEACE AT PROJECT COMMON BOND
Over the summer, Middle School Humanities Teacher Mike Wilper worked with teenagers at Project Common Bond, a camp for young people who have lost a loved one to terrorism. "Never have I been more inspired than when watching the young participants at Project Common Bond labor for peace under the full weight of loss."Read about his experience on the BC Blog.

6TH GRADE TAKE OVER LINCOLN PLACE (FOR AN AFTERNOON!) 
Sixth graders took over Lincoln Place for an evening of grade bonding! They played gaga and bingo, did arts and crafts, went to the "spa," tasted cheese and doodled on white boards before a pizza party with pies they made with Chef Bridget in the cafeteria. Then they went on a scavenger hunt throughout the building (during which they encountered teachers dressed as characters from history and pop culture), which led them to ice cream in the courtyard. PARENT ASSOCIATION TRIP TO NETS GAME ATTRACTS 100+ 
Nothing but nets! More than one 100 members of the BC community came out for the Parent Association's trip to the Brooklyn Nets (vs. the 76ers) on Sunday. A group of the students in attendance got to high five the players as they walked onto the court and the game ended in a 92-91 nail-biter.
