City Seeks Input for Upcoming Art in Public Places Projects


Your opinion counts: the City of Coral Gables wants to receive public comments regarding new art projects that are currently in the proposal stages. As part of the Art in Public Places program, two new art projects are on the initial stages of development: the Giralda Avenue Streetscape and Balboa Plaza. Funding for these projects is available through private development fees associated with the Art in Public Places program. Permit Fees Waived for Storefront Renovations


A new program is being introduced to assist businesses affected by the Miracle Mile & Giralda Avenue Streetscape Project that are within the project's special assessment area. City permit fees will be waived for all outdoor façade improvements, as well as improvements to the sidewalk pavers within private property along storefronts fronting or adjacent to the Streetscape project. TRIM Notices Include City's Solid Waste Fees


The Miami-Dade Property Appraiser's Office is mailing the current Notice of Proposed Property Taxes (TRIM), which reflects what property taxes are likely to be on the November property tax bill. Please note that in this TRIM Notice, the County has included the City of Coral Gables Solid Waste Assessment, which was required to be submitted to the County in mid-July for notification purposes only. The TRIM Notice is not a bill. If you have already paid the discounted rate for the City of Coral Gables solid waste fees by the August 15deadline, you will not be charged twice for this service. A Bench to Remember


The City of Coral Gables and the Coral Gables Community Foundation have partnered to offer the Commemorative Bench Program, a special way to honor the legacy of a loved one, or mark a special milestone or event in your life. A new commemorative bench with a plaque inscription will be installed in one of the City of Coral Gables' green spaces or parks. The benches are 6 feet long, UV and moisture resistant and have an estimated 15-year lifetime. The cost of the commemorative bench is tax deductible. Read more...

Traffic Update
FDOT is working on a construction project along US1 from Santona Street to Granada Boulevard and at the intersection of Grand Avenue. This project will take four months to complete. There will be periodic lane closures.


FDOT is working on roadway construction of State Road 90/S.W. 8 Street from SW 39 Avenue to east of SW 34 Avenue and at the intersection of LeJeune Road. The project commenced in May and will take about five months to complete. Lane closures will occur only during non-peak hours on nights and weekends. Allow extra time to reach your destination. Obey all posted signs and speed limits.
