Water tower
Vintage Coral Gables
Did you know that the only "lighthouse" in Coral Gables has never seen the sea?

The aesthetically pleasing design by H. George Fink, completed in 1923 to resemble a lighthouse, is actually the Alhambra Water Tower. The Tower was part of the City's domestic water supply that also included another tower on Indian Mound Trail that was blown away during the 1926 hurricane. The Alhambra Water Tower served the community until 1931, when it was disconnected and abandoned after Coral Gables began receiving water from the City of Miami.
