Your opinion matters! Please bring your ideas to the next conversation regarding the development of the US1 corridor. A Visioning Workshop for the US1, Red Road and Sunset Road corridor is scheduled for Friday, July 17 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, July 18 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Meetings will be held at the Holiday Inn, 1350 S. Dixie Highway.

Preserving the Historic White Way Lights

historic white lights You can find them along both sides of Riviera Drive, from Anastasia Avenue to University Drive, and on both sides of University Drive, from Bird Road to Ponce de Leon Boulevard. The original 1920s White Way Lights were designed by Phineas Paist, Supervising Architect, and by Denman Fink, Art Director for Coral Gables. city seal At the request of the City Commission, a Charter Review Committee was created this summer to review the City's charter - the constitutional document that establishes the underlying structure for our city government. K9 Kaiser Gets Extra Protection

K9 kaiser Coral Gables Police's K9 Kaiser, a 3 year-old German Shepard certified in patrol/apprehension and explosives detection, will soon be wearing extra protection thanks to a recent donation. Our four-legged CGPD member is set to receive a bullet and stab proof vest. The donation was made by the nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9s, and thanks to the generosity of Bertram and Cindy Goldsmith. The Coral Gables couple wanted to honor their beloved mixed-breed dog that passed away earlier in the year. Read more...

ParkMe Did you know that you can find an available parking spot at one of the City's garages by using the new Coral Gables app? A new functionality has been added to the ParkMe application available on the Coral Gables app that, in addition to the parking rate, it also lets you know if there is a parking spot available. And if you're looking for the nearest Trolley Route stop, the app also displays your location and provides turn-by-turn directions to the nearest Trolley stop. Download it here...

Giant Land Snails: Don't Touch!

giant african snails The Florida Department of Agriculture has established quarantine zones, which include portions of Coral Gables, to prevent the movement of the Giant African Land Snail. If you think you have seen one, please do not move it or give it away as they multiply rapidly, spread disease, damage ornamental plants and destroy crops. Read more...
