What would you write about yourself if you had only six words?  As part of our Writing and Speaking Across the Curriculum program, and inspired by Smith Magazines' Six-Word Memoir Project, Head of School Sean Brennan recently challenged the Vermont Academy community to write our individual stories using six words. VA's enthusiastic participation in the project led to a video and our designation as the magazine's "Classroom of the Month."  Read more and watch the video here >

Alana Lopez from Wolcott, Connecticut is a tenth grader who came to us from the Rumsey Hall School. In just her first year here, Alana has completely immersed herself in Academy life. She is a talented singer and was featured in a major role in last fall's production of Urinetown. In addition, she is a representative on the School Spirit Committee and a member of the varsity field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse teams. Alana looked at nine schools in her selection process and chose Vermont Academy.   Find out why  >    

Nine very fortunate Vermont Academy students are currently enjoying the experience of a lifetime in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. As part of our ten-week  Trimester in Spain program, these students are living and studying in a European city built over 2,000 years ago and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Vermont Academy boys' snowboarding team recently clinched the Lakes Region racing title for the third year in a row. Congratulations to Coach John Kelly and his boys on the three-peat! This is only one area in which our sports-on-snow teams are excelling this season. Whether competing at the Junior World Biathlon Championships in Austria, or taking a spot on the winners podium at the NH Freeski Open, our athletes are making their mark!  Read more >
