Our Six-Word Memoir Project

Kyle Hoffman '08 Presents

What would you write about yourself if you had only six words? The Vermont Academy community recently embraced this writing challenge as part of Smith Magazine's Six-Word Memoir Project. The idea was originally inspired by Ernest Hemingway, who was reportedly challenged to write a story in only six words. His response?  "For sale: baby shoes. Never used." VA's enthusiastic participation led to a video and our designation as the magazine's "Classroom of the Month."

BV Basketball Tops KUA at Home

The Vermont Academy Performing Arts department's annual "Black Box" Production, "Until the Last Snowflake Falls" will open on February 7, at 7:30 pm. Temps were will below freezing outside but the BV basketball team was on fire as they defeated rival KUA, 62-60, in a fiercely-competitive, emotionally-charged contest in front of a frenzied home crowd on January 17. Easily one of the most exciting games ever played in Williams Gymnasium, the spirit of the event was captured in a highlight video shot and edited by Vermont Academy freshman and film wunderkind Oliver Hoblitzelle. If you missed the game, here's your chance to get in on the excitement!   See the video >
