A Month's Worth of Must-see Scary Movies

Halloween is almost here and it's time for all those creepy scary movies. If you are a fan of this genre, than you know that the 80s spawned some of the best.

Here are some of the biggest by year:
1980: The Shining, Prom Night,The Fog, The Changeling and Friday The 13th
1981: The Evil Dead, An American Werewolf in London, The Howling and Possession
1982: Halloween III Season of the Witch, Creepshow, Poltergeist and The Thing
1984: Gremlins (yes...considered a horror flick!), Silent Night Deadly Night,Children Of the Corn and Nightmare on Elm Street
1985: Fright Night, Day Of The Dead
1986: The Hitcher,Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and Aliens
1987: Hellraiser and The Lost Boys
1988: Child's Play and Pumpkinhead
1989: Pet Sematary

Here a few little tid bits you might not know:
-The church cat in Pet Sematary was played by 7 different cats.
-Nightmare On Elm Street was shot in 32 days and it was Johnny Depp's debut movie, playing Glen.
-In Poltergeist the skeletons were not props, they were real human skeletons.
-Creepshow used "Hissing" roaches, which they had to have a special temporary permit for and all roaches had to be counted before and after shoots and all dead ones had to be accounted for. Yuck!
-There are 13 Friday The 13th movies and there have been 13 different Jasons (originally named Josh).
-Did you know that Stephen King did not like the movie version of The Shining? Who knew! The character of Danny was played by Dan Lloyd and The Shining was his first and last movie. On top of that, due to his age, he was told they were filming a drama, not a horror movie.
-Last but not least, of course, Jack Nicholson's "Heeeeere's Johnny" was totally improvised.
