M3 2013-The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Here is Amy L's personal opinion of this year's festival...
Thursday night Pre-Party at Sonoma's presented by D-Toxin Productions, featuring Sin4Sin, Station and Diemonds is always good, and if you're in town early enough you should check it out!
Friday night's lineup:
Danger Danger, KIX and W.A.S.P. DD's short set forced them into choosing to perform only one of their 2 big hits, "Bang Bang" and "Naughty Naughty." Today's lesson for bands with short sets: DON'T SAVE ALL YOUR HITS UNTIL THE END OF YOUR SET!  KIX...AWESOME as always! W.A.S.P. started off well, Blackie sounded good, but lost the crowd when he announced that he would launch into a 30 minute set of Crimson Idol. Saturday started off with a WAY too short Steelheart set which was extra disappointing  considering no bands took either stage until 40 minutes after they finished. Cool to see people in Steel Dragon T-shirts tho! LSRG(aka Vixen), Firehouse and Jack Russell's Great White put on great sets. Russell looked and sounded much better than a previous performance at  Rock In America in OK. Loudness was, well, loud and always one of my favorites. M3 was my first Steel Panther  experience...what a riot! Warning to parents: NOT A PG RATED SHOW!!! Tuff put on a fun set capped off with American Hairband. Personally, I believe that Twisted Sister should have been the Saturday  headliner, since, as expected, they put on a kick ass show! And they don't even need the makeup anymore! Jackyl closed out the side stage with what Jesse James Dupree called "Jakylfest 2013"  and what I called a really fun set.
Bret Michaels took the main stage as the final act of M3 2013 and we stayed for a couple songs, but Clyde's was calling and we were ready to trade the $11 beers for $5 beers! I missed Love/Hate, Trixter and Kings X, but thoroughly enjoyed seeing old friends  and meeting new ones! And a special shout out to all my Monsters of Rock Cruise buddies!

So, Retro Active is excited about Summer finally being here! It's time for fireworks every Tuesday night, 10pm over Lake Broadway! And starting June 21, Broadway will also have fireworks on Friday nights!
