A Letter From Our New President & CEO
|
Clara Reynolds President & CEO
|
Hello to our supporters and friends of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay!
My name is Clara Reynolds, and it is an honor to introduce myself to you as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. I am proud to have the privilege of leading this amazing organization. In my new role as CEO, I look forward to working with each of you and our dedicated staff to increase the number of people we serve, grow the number of volunteers who help the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay provide its services and to raise the funds and awareness needed to ensure that no one in our community has to face crisis alone.
I am a native of Tampa and a product of Hillsborough County Public Schools. Like many people, I experienced a devastating loss during my high school years. Through my personal crisis, I found a passion for working with traumatized children which led me to pursue a Masters of Social Work degree from Florida State University. Over the past 21 years, I have worked in Hillsborough County as a child protective investigation's intern, a school social worker, and as the founder and executive director of Success 4 Kids & Families. I intend to use my experience and skills to help the Crisis Center continue to thrive and expand its remarkable services and programs...(READ MORE)

Chris Finds Hope Through the Florida Veterans Support Line

Chris hit the "send" icon on his phone, exhaled deeply as the line rang, and then heard a voice..."Thank you for calling the Florida Veterans Support Line. You're talking with a veteran. How can I help you?" Chris began his conversation with Jamie, a Veteran Specific Intervention Specialist at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. He told Jamie he had served in Vietnam and that he needed financial assistance because he was out of work as part of the Family Medical Leave Act. Jamie asked specific questions about the areas where Chris was struggling and how he was coping. Through this conversation, Jamie learned that Chris needed help with his bills, food pantry items, and job search assistance. Chris was provided with multiple resources to assist with his needs and was referred to Care Coordination services for follow-up contact. (READ MORE)

Florida Attorney General's Office Allocates Funds to the Crisis Center
|
Florida Attorney General, Pam Bondi with the Crisis Center's Clara Reynolds and Sandy McLaughlin
|
As part of a multi-million dollar settlement with Chase Bank, many Florida nonprofits will receive funds from the Florida Office of the Attorney General to be used for financial literacy education, programs related to assisting Floridians with managing debt, and veteran's services. Some of these funds will be allocated to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, where the money will be used to support vital programs within the Family Stabilization department. Financial crisis can affect anyone at any time, and can have extremely stressful and debilitating effects on people's lives. Family Stabilization provides working families who are experiencing a financial crisis with resources such as financial education and financial support to meet their basic needs, so they can get back on their feet. The funds from this settlement provide much needed resources to Family Stabilization and help the Crisis Center achieve its mission of ensuring that no one in our community has to face crisis alone.
