empowerment & inspiration ... all for you

not about the bike
I love my bike Tshirt

(well in this case it was)
I'm stuck

The bike I had hopped onto in Spin class at the gym had a stuck gear lever - it was very hard to move. Since this lever is much needed during class ... to move up/down, up/down depending on the desired intensity or ease of the pedaling, it was frustrating that this one was so hard to adjust.

As I voiced a comment of "this lever seems to be stuck" to our instructor Jane, she suggested that I move to another bike. Two were available, both sitting on the side of the room in the sun. I said, "Nah, I don't want to be in the sun" (Mary Menopause is hot enough). Jane kinda shrugged to indicate, "Okay, well ..." and the class began.

Of course, then I proceeded to cuss out the stuck lever during the entire 45 minute class. It was so tight and hard to adjust that it hurt my hand. I even used a towel to cushion my hand as I struggled to move it.

I had the chance to switch bikes and change my situation, which would have resulted in a more enjoyable Spin class, but I didn't. Instead, I stayed 'stuck' and merely whined about it.

If we are in a situation not to our liking, or a painful or irritating situation, we can change it, you know. And when the choice to do so stares us in the face, and we don't choose the opportunity to improve our situation ... whose fault is it? Is it LIFE'S fault? And if we decide yea, we're the victim, not our fault, then we think it's okay to moan about it. Oh, woe is me.

Why didn't we change the situation when we had the chance? Sometimes it's all about excuses. We're quite good at inventing excuses. "YEA BUT" this and "YEA BUT" that.

If we want to stay in an undesirable situation, we can stay. That's our choice. But then we have no right to complain and whine about it, now do we?

Switch seats while you have the chance.

"Totally agree with you."

"As I did in 2015, I will continue my 'resolution' to know where I fit into other people's lives and where they fit into mine. I have eliminated a lot of stress and unhappiness when I accepted this. It doesn't have to be 'all in or all out' to find happiness.
My daughter and I look forward to your weekly insight into life."
Regards, Rita

"I think New Year's resolutions are ridiculous and just another way of putting undue pressure on ourselves. Most of us have plenty of obligations and duties to perform each and every day, not just on the first of the year.
Wishing you a happy and healthy 2016 and thank you for all your SNIPPETS!"
