empowerment & inspiration ... all for you

reflection section
it's a new year, so what?

If you've been a snippeteer for a while, you know around this time of year that I don't focus on writing about new year's resolutions. The topic is overrated, in my humble opinion.

Shouldn't we be always striving for our personal best the year long, not just promising it to ourselves on January 1? It's a new year, so what? It's actually just the passing of one day into the next, and the number on the calendar changes. Well, that occurs every day anyhow, doesn't it?

Greet each day with enthusiasm, not only the first two weeks in January!

I mean, do we really need to pressure ourselves with a grandiose thing by creating a resolution? I'm not into it. And then what, feel like failures if we don't meet it? We pressure ourselves enough all of the other weeks of the year.

At various times, we've discussed here on SNIPPETS about setting expectations of others. A resolution is just creating a high expectation of ourselves.

So, today's SNIPPETS advises ... don't feel pressured or obligated to make a resolution just because January 1 and a new year is here, or just because the world says you must, or because people ask you: What's your new year's resolution?

If you want to set a personal goal, by all means, set one. My personal goal will be to remember to write 2016 instead of 2015. :-D

Continued happiness and blessings to you, sweet snippeteers, on the next 365 days of the year to come - and for your lifetime. Thank you kindly and greatly for snippeting with me in 2015. You continue to inspire me to write this weekly column ... since 2006.

"Sometimes we don't allow enough time to have the clarity for ourselves that we have for others. Breaking habits is difficult. Sometimes you have to do something different, just so you don't do the same thing."

"I am always looking for my next first. When I see an opportunity for a new experience I forget about what went wrong last time.
