hero instead of victim - a celebration of truth

I just love this inspiring story. THIS girl Shelby displays a great attitude with what she did - and provides us with a splendid example of turning a hurtful situation into an upbeat one. She was to be married in November but her fiance' backed out the week before. Instead of playing the role of victim, she played her own HERO.
[I do hope by now the intended bride has figured out that she wasn't supposed to be with the intended groom. And, that if the groom hadn't called it off, then the next "Mr. Right" won't cease to come along. One 'wrong' wedding canceled merely opens up her universe to the 'right' wedding!]

In the meantime, she had a PAINT BLAST, included her bridesmaids and parents, and created her own non-wedding event - TRASH THE WEDDING DRESS. (The support from her parents will bring tears to your eyes.)

After all, it's JUST a DRESS. You go, Shelby! See for yourself, snippeteers, all the fun they had ...

And while you're watching, think a little here. Is there an area in your life where you are playing the victim and making yourself miserable? Wallowing in your own tears? Pity Partying? Could you show more strength? Could you change roles?

'I had this idea"
by Bernadette A. Moyer

I had this idea that if I did the right things, the right thing would happen for me.

What I learned is that doing the right thing was what I do for myself and it doesn't guarantee that things will turn out like I thought.

I had this idea that living by the golden rule would guarantee that if I treated others like I want to be treated they would do the same. What I learned is that ...

reactions to 12/19/2014 issue - 'bigger? better? bah-humbug!'

"I too struggle with the excesses that are so prevalent in our country. Returning from traveling outside of the U.S. makes it glaringly obvious.  As a capitalistic society we are bombarded by BUY this, you NEED this, GET the latest version (and throw away that other one). Being happy with what you have - or less - has to be a conscious daily decision."

"Happiness is not having what you want; it's wanting what you have.
I'm in a bit of a dark place right now. I do know that God is always faithful and all will be well in the long run."
