From the desk of Mrs. Brakebush
|

Dear Parents,
I recently made a big announcement. If you haven't heard, you can click on the link below and read about it.
Letter from Mrs. Brakebush
|
Thank You for Blessing Military Families
|

Thank you for your generosity by donating gifts for the City of Lake Forest's adopted battalion from Camp Pendleton. GCS was able to show our appreciation for these marine families' service to our country by providing Christmas gifts for their families. The student council loaded a minivan with bags full of gifts - your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Christmas Boutique Success
|

This year's CHRISTmas Boutique was a GREAT success! We totaled nearly $5,500 in sales from the boutique, and nearly $1,200 from the Scholastic Book Fair! Thank you to ALL of the parents who so lovingly volunteered their time making gift bags, setting up/tearing down, and working at the Boutique! Our preschool and elementary students were able to shop for their loved ones inexpensively and thoroughly enjoyed it!
A special THANK YOU goes out to Kara Bisel for coordinating this huge event. Shopping is done year-round to find just the right items to offer to our families at amazingly affordable prices! We would also like to thank Ming Chang, Karen Mitchell, Lori Shinkle, Lisa Rozinskas, and Julie Freese, who went above and beyond with their time and thoughtfulness. Click below to thank Kara and let her know how much you enjoyed the boutique!

2015/2016 Priority Enrollment
|
Have you reenrolled for the 2015/2016 school year yet? It's not too late, however, if you wait until after January 15, you miss out on Priority Enrollment and and locking in at the current 2014/15 tuition rate.
ELEMENTARY PRIORITY ENROLLMENT
Returning Family-Returning Student(s): 2015/2016 priority enrollment, for all returning students and their siblings, will be available November 15, 2014 through January 15, 2015. For returning elementary students and their preschool-age siblings enrolling in our Kindergarten, log into your ParentsWeb portal > Family Information > Enrollment/Reenrollment. Payment of the Registration Fee in full is due when submitting your enrollment packet.
Enrollment with full payment of the Registration Fee, before January 15, will enable returning families to pay the same tuition rate in 2015/2016 as the 2014/2015 grade-level tuition rate. That means no tuition increase; however, Kindergarten moving to 1st Grade would pay the 2014/2015 1st grade rate (*$7,600, rather than the 2015/2016 rate of *$7,800). New students enrolling in Elementary will receive a full refund of the Registration Fee if they are not accepted by the school.
PRESCHOOL PRIORITY ENROLLMENT FOR SIBLINGS
Returning Elementary Family-New Preschool Sibling(s): Siblings, new to preschool, begin the enrollment process through our website, www.gracechristianschools.org. Click Preschool (link) on opening page in enrollment announcement to get started. Follow instructions to submit online application packet. Full payment of the Registration Fee (see table below) is required when submitting your enrollment packet. If you qualify for no Registration Fee because of multiple elementary siblings, contact Chris Elston, in the School Office, at 949-951-8683 Ext.102, prior to submitting your online application. Enrollment must be complete, and the Registration Fee paid in full, to guarantee placement. 2015/2016 Preschool tuition rates are available now.
New for the 2015/2016 School Year: We are pleased to announce enrollment available for children as young as 2 years, 6 months (turning 3-years-old by March 1, 2016). Children, younger than 3-years-old, do not have to be fully potty-trained, but actively working on it at home, and must wear "Pull-Ups" to school (no diapers).

PTF Meeting - FREE Childcare |
The next PTF meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 8, at 2:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. We will be discussing upcoming events such as Backstage Pass and the Spring Carnival. Remember that attending a PTF meeting will count as one hour of your required five PTF volunteer hours.
The mission of the PTF is to support GCS by arranging events that build community for Grace families; organizing enrichment activities for students; providing volunteer and financial support for teachers; publicizing school and classroom events, and raising money to support these activities. Involvement in the PTF is not only a great way to get involved in your child's school, but it's also a great opportunity to meet other parents and build relationships. FREE childcare provided. If you have any PTF-related questions, please contact Bobbi Nyce. Email Bobbi Nyce

Spring Musical Auditions/Callbacks
|

This year, the Spring Musical is called iAM, and here's a summary of what it's about:
We're living in a world of smartphones, tablets, apps and games, but the same God who spoke to Moses from a burning bush still wants to communicate with us today! In fact, with all of our distractions and entertainment, the most exciting thing in life is getting to know the God who made us.
Join super app-designer Sarah and the amazing creative team at the App Factory, where you not only play the games, but you get into the game, and discover the real life app for all that!
The entire elementary school will be in the chorus, but auditions for speaking parts and solos will be held for grades 1-6. There will be two full casts this year. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, January 7, at 2:30 p.m., in Room 112, with callbacks being held on Thursday, January 8, at 3:30 p.m., in Room 112. Students will not need to prepare anything for auditions, but will be given something to memorize if they receive a callback. Rehearsals this year will be Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4:00, beginning January 14. Not all cast members need to be at every rehearsal. A rehearsal schedule will be emailed to all families after the first rehearsal on Wednesday, January 14.
Parents, you will be invoiced on ParentsWeb for $20 for your student for the Spring Musical CD and a glow-in-the-dark t-shirt. Additional siblings will be invoiced $10 for the shirt (as ony 1 CD is needed per family).
If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Baker, the Spring Musical Director.
