The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau proposed to delay until Oct. 3 new "Know Before You Owe" mortgage disclosure rules which aim to streamline the disclosure process for home buyers during closing by merging the Truth in Lending Act and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act into one form. GRAR SPONSORED OPEN HOUSE JULY 16th
Over the last 2 ˝ years, GRAR has been working with the Community Design Center of Rochester to obtain community improvement grants from the National Association of REALTORS®.  To date we have received more than $70,000 in funding that has been invested in local communities including: The Village of Lima, The Village of Penn Yan, The City of Rochester and the Town of Pittsford.  We are actively seeking further grants to continue investing in other towns and villages across our service area.  If you are interested in learning more about out Community Improvement activities, please stop by our open house at the Community Design Center of Rochester's office at 1115 E Main Street, Rochester.  Refreshments and light hors d'ourves will be served.  For full details, click here.

NYSAR COMMITTEE SIGN UP BEGINS JULY 1
Get involved by sharing your time, talent and expertise to help NYSAR meet the needs of your fellow 50,000 members.
Volunteers are asked to be sure they will be able to attend the association's 2016 business meetings, which are February 8-11 in Albany and September 25-28 in Verona before committing to serve. Please note that committee sign up will be available online only between July 1 and July 31 at NYSAR.com

THANKS TO THE GRAR LOBBY DAY DELEGATION
Representatives from GRAR joined fellow REALTORS® from across New York on June 9 at the state Capitol in Albany to meet with our legislators. Issues discussed included Team Definition Legislation, Extending the Property Tax Cap, Tax Credit for Installation of Fire Sprinkler System  and First-time Homebuyer Savings Accounts among other relevant topics.
Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan encouraged the group, saying, "Your advocacy and your knowledge is very helpful for me and my colleagues. NYS PROPOSED GREEN BUILDING TAX CREDIT SET FOR GOV. CUOMO'S APPROVAL
The New York State Assembly and Senate passed legislation that would allow individual homeowners to receive a green building tax credit of up to $10,000 for construction or rehabilitation of residential real property. The full bill and status can be found here.
