New supply of our most popular wearables

These beauties are the double-woven, double-faced scarves that have two personalities.  They can stretch to be a shawl, but are most popular as warmth and beauty around the neck.
This is the perfect place for "one for the gift, and one for me."    Last Sunday, one customer filled her 7 name list with these.

Check out Hanson Galleries' "firsts"
at the bottom of this email.

Just in time for that very
special present

Kanwar Singh just sent a stunning group of rubies, sapphires, spenels as well as black, blue and raw diamonds all set in 18K.  Both stores have his work with the largest selection at Post Oak.

These earrings are Tsavorite (green stone), red spinel and 18k gold.  They are at our Post Oak location.

All the Hanson Galleries family send Kanwar their sincerest condolences on the passing of his wife, Amrit, last week.  She was his helpmate in running his jewelry business, in raising their lovely family and being there for him.
She is gone, but not forgotten.

Teacup dolls have arrived

When we were going through boxes in storage recently, we found several antique teacup and saucer sets.  We gave them to Tere Perry, a local doll maker, and asked her to have fun with them.

These are what she came up with.  Hope you enjoy them and want one for your own.

Many firsts at Hanson Galleries

Art and Donna, with Hanson Galleries, have led with many firsts in the industry:

  • The first craft gallery to open in a mall setting (Galleria Mall 1982) trying to mainstream American crafts as well-made, well-designed upscale gifts for the Houston community.

  • The first craft store in the US to have a color Christmas Catalog sent out by snail mail to their own mailing list.  This 16 page catalog was started in 1979 and continued for 13 years.  This was way before desktop publishing was around for small business and was done all by Art and Donna with graph paper, proportion wheels, expensive photography, a typewriter and a little man across town that set the type by hand.

  • The first craft store in the US to have a web presence in the very late 80's with Hanson Galleries.com.

  • We were among the first to have multiple store locations in the original Town and Country Mall and The Galleria Mall.  Both malls found themselves with empty spaces in Nov. and asked us to make Annex stores so that they would not have empty store fronts during the Christmas season.  So, one Christmas we had 4 mall locations.

  • We were honored with the "Top American Craft Retailer" in the US for 2010 by Niche Magazine which was bestowed on us by the industry artists' vote.  That made us the first (and only) craft gallery in Texas to receive this top honor.
