A new paradigm of "conscious aging" is beginning to emerge in North America and throughout the developed world. It contradicts the youth-centric, anti-aging messaging which has been so prominent in our urban global culture.
This new film - produced in dialogue with Sage-ing International - is an introduction to the growth, development and transformation that can come in life "beyond adulthood" and the gifts elders can bring to society.
This documentary represents an initiative to transform our views of aging and fully realize a new phase of life filled with great potential for purpose and meaning, just like all previous life-phases. It's not about who we used to be. It's about who we are and can become.
Join us May 10th for a showing of the 38-minute feature film, and a conversation with both the producer and one of the leading characters in this dramatic and inspirational documentary short.
DAVID CAREY is the filmmaker, a video producer based in Minneapolis, MN. His company, 'Show & Tell Group' develops and produces commercials, corporate communications and short films. This film is his dream. He is dedicated to telling the story of a "new old" and those who are finding new and better ways to live a complete life with purpose, meaning and integrity from start to finish.
GARY CARLSON and his potter's wheel both launch the film and appear in several vignettes. Gary is a co-founder and former Chair of Sage-ing® International. He has served in numerous SI leadership roles and co-founded the Conscious Aging Network of New Mexico. He received the first Reb Zalman Leadership Award, the Sage-ing Pioneer award, and is among the Council of Honored Sages. Gary is retired from a career as a research scientist and technical manager. He is married to Charlotte Carlson. They have three children and six grand-children.
