Greetings!,
Just a few more weeks until we ring in 2013! What an exciting year it has been for Out Boulder and the LGBT community. In just the past month, we have seen an unexpected and powerful shift across the country. Three states passed full marriage inclusion at the ballot and on Friday the United States Supreme Court took up two cases, DOMA and Prop 8, concerning same-sex marriage. Here in Colorado we expect Civil Unions to pass in the early part of the legislative session.
We recently hosted a reading of 8 the Play with an amazing talk back panel. With all this talk of marriage, it is important to remember the other important issues facing our community. Brad Clark, Executive Director of One Colorado, mentioned some of these at our reading on Thursday, such as immigration reform; health care reform; and school climate.
Also, this is my last week in the office until Jan 14. Jen Spolnik and Aubree Peckham, will be here to keep things in order. You can reach them by calling the office at 303-499-5777.
Happy holidays and warm wishes for the New Year,
Aicila Lewis Executive Director
