news from the blue
a new year's blessing
Let's be honest
which doesn't mean
being harsh, but gentle.

Let's be clear
which doesn't mean
being dispassionate, but
holding each other up
in the face of what is true.

Let's be enduring
which doesn't mean
being important or famous,
but staying useful like a wheel
worn by rain after years of
carrying each other's burdens.

Let's be in awe
which doesn't mean
anything but the courage
to gape, like fish, at the surface
breaking ground with our mouths.

a few of my favorite things
spotlight on studio manager katie breen
Enjoying getting to know Katie beyond the blue!

Favorite food: Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe in Chapel Hill is my favorite place to eat when I need an escape from DTR! With all local farm-sourced Indian fare, Vimala who is from Kerala, Southern India, even cooks in the kitchen. They have an Everybody Eats policy & Community Supported Dinners to give everyone a share in Vimalas cooking. An all around stellar eatery & always a treat that brings me right back to my adventures in Kerala!

Favorite non-yoga activity: A hike at Umstead or more often, a run through Lake Johnson's wooded trail. I need a regular fix of nature, with the sun shining on my face! When I get a chance to go to the mountains, I can't even stand it -- I'm so content.

One Favorite memory: Road-tripping to nowhere PA with my country music loving friend Brady to see Sam Hunt play his acoustic solo album before Sam made it big as a hot county star. Brady & I were in the right place, at the right time, and suggested the right bar - and for that - we had drinks with Sam after his show. Sam coined me the Theologian (I was a theology major), but I was impressed he really knew his CS Lewis & GK Chesterton!
