Namaste,
I go on a lot about honoring where you are and the importance of in-the-moment acceptance of yourself at any given time. Whether acknowledging anger and disappointment or recognizing success, tiredness, overwhelm - the list is endless - there is value in shifting out of the ongoing internal dialogue we engage in about what is, and into feeling it in the moment and letting it go.
Alongside the development of mindfulness as a practice of self-care is the task of accepting yourself as who you are. I haven't yet decided if one is easier or harder, or if one should come before the other. For me, they seem to be intertwined along the path of self-understanding, and it's revealed to me on a regular basis that that particular path takes your whole lifetime. It's a long path. Very long. Like not going to see the end.

a few of my favorite things |
spotlight on teacher nancy watson allen
Enjoy getting to know your teachers beyond the blue, as you read about some of Nancy's favorite things!
Favorite Book: The Four Desires by Rod Stryker
Reading this book, and more importantly, doing the associated work individually and with the support of my teacher and my community, served as a catalyst for major change in my life. The process is based on the ancient spiritual tradition of the Vedas.Through it, you are shown a path to uncover and fulfill your deepest material and spiritual desires. In doing what is in the best interest of your highest self, you also serve the collective. If you feel stuck, if your soul is calling out for change, if you are ready to live your best life, read this book and connect with Jill about the "What's Next?" spring session.

Favorite Day of the Week: Sunday I typically don't work or teach on Sunday, and I thoroughly enjoy the easy pace of the day. I love having time to attend a yoga class and/or extend my home practice, eat a delicious brunch, take a long walk with my husband or a solo run on the N.C. Museum of Art/Greenway trails, relax in a salt bath, work on a knitting project, or anything else my heart desires. Right now I'm taking extra time to knit baby items as I prepare to welcome our son in December! Favorite Thing about Blue Lotus: Community I came to the blue for the first time by myself one New Year's Eve. I didn't know a single person at the studio, but felt drawn to ring in the new year here. Over the years this space became my yoga home, and those strangers became my beloved yoga community. This community has supported me as a student, a teacher trainee, a teacher, and a teacher trainer. I met some of my dearest friends on the mat. I met and married my husband here. This space is sacred. This community is incredibly special. I'm so thankful to share it with you.
