Namaste~
I don't have much to say, for once. My heart is very, very full. After a late night at the studio, and back again before the sun this morning, I sit here in one quiet moment with overflowing gratitude. Thank you to the amazing instructors who give themselves to the practice and to the community, heart and soul. Thank you to the staff who create a welcoming, clean, inviting space for us to come together. And thank you to the community- for supporting us for six years, for coming back to the mat again and again to make yourselves better. To make our world better. Thank you from the bottom of my over-full heart.
Peace, Jill

Favorite asana: Bakasana ~ it makes me feel free Little known facts about me: I love the earth, and I teach nature programs at a local preserve. I get to roll logs in search of salamanders, hike trails to listen for birds, and hug as many trees as I like - pure joy! Words that describe my class: flowing, energizing, peaceful, from the heart
Who inspires me: Mother Earth ~ She reconnects me to that space of peace within. Jill ~ I don’t even know where to begin to express how much I have learned and continue to learn from Jill. Each time I practice, with her my love of yoga deepens. My children ~ They slow me down and remind me the greatest parts of life are in the simple moments. Favorite yoga music: Krishna Das ~ something about his voice and the rhythms of the music touches the depths of my heart, centering me. Favorite yoga book: The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. The message of this book is such a simple one, yet at the same time, so profound. Favorite quote: Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude. ~Denis Waitley Why I love blue lotus: It is a place where I feel accepted, nurtured, challenged, inspired, and loved. When I walk through the doors, I feel like I am home and when I walk out, I feel a sense of wholeness. For me, blue lotus is truly a sacred space. I knew I loved yoga when: I began to tap into that deeper part of myself. I had been searching for true spiritual meaning in my life for a long time. Yoga brought that to me. It wasn’t something that occurred to me in a specific moment; instead it was more of a gradual realization. Yoga is what I was searching for, and it has been greater than I ever could have I imagined. Parting thoughts: Yoga is an amazing journey of the body, mind, heart, and spirit. I am forever grateful that this path of yoga was opened up for me, thrilled that I took the step down that path, and honored to be able to share this amazing practice with other beautiful souls.

cultivate compassion |
we are all connected
When we meditate on compassion, we can begin to recognize that what we perceive as boundaries between ourselves and others in reality don't exist. But that is a huge leap to take for many of us. So, it’s best to start, as always, right where we are, and move forward with intention.
Sit a comfortable, quiet, and centered way, with your eyes closed or softly open, and notice your heartbeat and your breath. Begin to think about someone you love, and allow yourself to feel your natural caring for that person. Now, allow yourself to become aware of any sorrows or suffering in this person’s life. Notice and feel your natural inclination to provide comfort, and meet his or her pain with compassion.
While holding this person in your heart, offer silent phrases of compassion, such as: “May you be free from pain and sorrow. May you be held in compassion. May you be well and happy. May you be at peace.” Modify these intentions in a way that makes them true to you.
When you silently repeat these phrases, you express an intention to move from a place of judgment to one of caring, from isolation to connection, and from indifference or dislike to understanding for all beings.
After a few minutes, shift your attention inward, to your own sorrows. Recite the same phrases to yourself. “May I be free from pain and sorrow. May I be held in compassion. May I be well and happy. May I be at peace.”
Continue this practice by extending your compassion to other loved ones, and even further, to friends and neighbors, and even to your enemies or difficult people in your life. Finally, open your offering of compassion to all beings everywhere, without limit and without exception, connecting with all life.
When you work with a compassion practice in this way, it may be difficult at times; the pain may seem overwhelming. It’s important at those times that you remember your intention is not to fix or relieve the pain of the world, but only to breathe and meet the pain with a heart full of compassion.
