October Campaign Purchases Benefit OSAP

X
Patterson Dental and 11 infection control product companies are raising funds for OSAP in a special one-month campaign called "Support the Fight for Infection Prevention." The campaign is designed to help increase OSAP's visibility throughout the dental profession, and to call attention to key infection control brands that are donating a portion of their sales to OSAP.
X
During October, every time someone purchases one of the featured products in the "Support the Fight for Infection Prevention" campaign section, 5% of the proceeds will be donated to the OSAP Foundation. The campaign is a four-page spread in the very center of the 2012 Patterson Infection Control/Glove Handcare Guide and is framed with the OSAP green band and logo. The participating OSAP corporate partners include Crosstex, Hu-Friedy, SciCan, Sultan Healthcare, TotalCare, Certol, Harry Bosworth Company, Miele, Palmero, ProEdge Dental, and Sterisil.

Cohen Honored With Third Annual Eponymous Lecture

Cohen Lecture

X

Left-Right: Dr. Andrew Peterson (Dean), Therese Long (OSAP),

Sir George Alleyne (Speaker) and Dr. Lois Cohen (Honoree)

X

Lois Cohen PhD, Co-Chair of the Friends of OSAP, was honored in the Third Annual Lois K. Cohen Global Health Lecture October 4 at the Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA. Sir George Alleyne, Director Emeritus for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), was the guest lecturer and delivered a passionate and compelling lesson on "Noncommunicable Disease: The Global Challenge."

X

Sir George focused on the four main Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs), cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic lung disease, and diabetes, as they kill three in five people worldwide and cause great socioeconomic harm within all countries. Important to OSAP members is that the distinction between communicable and noncommunicable diseases is increasingly blurring.

Joining the auditorium packed with graduate students and faculty from the College, were OSAP Friend, Dr. Marion Bergman, previous OSAP Symposium speaker, Dr. Saskia Estupinon from PAHO, and OSAP Executive Director, Therese Long. The Lois K. Cohen Endowed Lecture Series in Global Health is made possible through the generosity of Ilene Warner-Maron PhD in honor of her aunt, Lois Cohen. Dr. Cohen is not only a Friend of OSAP; she is a consultant and Paul G. Rogers Ambassador for Global Health Research and formerly was associate director for International Health, National Institute of Dental & Craniofacial Research at the National Institutes of Health.
