Headlines
Symposium Theme And Goals Set For 2013
The 2013 Educational Programming Committee has announced the theme for the June 13-15, 2013 symposium in San Diego, CA: Charting a Course for Infection Prevention and Safety. The 3-day program, set in the Hyatt Mission Beach Marina and Spa Resort, promises to deliver on three educational goals to:
(1) Navigate current changes and emerging issues in science, technology, guidelines, regulations, policies, practices and products;
(2) Explore connections, resources and tools to optimize compliance, and
(3) Advance a culture of safety throughout healthcare.
All OSAP members are strongly encouraged to participate in the organization's annual session and membership meeting. Mark June 13-15, 2013 in your calendars for a trip to San Diego for world-class education, resources and networking!

OSAP Board Member Visits Central Piedmont Community College
OSAP Board member, Doug Braendle, paid Cheryl Wolf, CDA, NC DA-II, BS a visit on August 6. Cheryl, a Professor at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC, was the recent recipient of the Dr. Milt Schaefer Award. Doug and Cheryl were working on a project with the SciCan washer just in time to service instruments for a brand new class of dental assisting students.

This 12th Annual Dental Infection Control Course is co-sponsored by the United States Air Force and OSAP for Federal Dental Service personnel. Civilians also are welcome to participate. The course runs from Monday through Thursday, January 7-10, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas and offers 28 hours of CE credit. Click here for further information.

Kathy Eklund RDH MHP will discuss reports of actual and potential infection control breaches, address infection prevention and control considerations for portable and mobile oral healthcare settings, and highlight integrated infection prevention and control policies, procedures and practices.
Oct. 18-19, 2012 - The Impact of "Green" Dentistry on Infection Prevention
American Dental Assistants Association Annual Conference, San Francisco, CA
Mary Govoni, CDA, RDA, RDH, MBA, will describe how dental practices have many opportunities to lessen their impact on the environment by adopting environmentally friendly business strategies while considering how these decisions affect patient safety. The program examines common practices and protocols and how they shape the environment as well as patient/healthcare worker safety.
