William Bird DDS DrPH - OSAP Loses A Beloved Leader And Friend

 x

Bill Bird On Wednesday, July 18 at 11:42 pm, Bill (William Bird DDS DrPH) quietly passed away. His wife, Doni, and daughter, Jennifer, were by his side and holding hands with him. Bill was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer on March 26. This was a heartbreakingly fast journey, and we all grieve for Doni and her family.

x

Bill and Doni were true partners. They built a full and rich life around education and oral healthcare, animals (with their dogs Bella & Auzzie, horses and many others including ravens), ballooning, horse carriages and their lovely ranch with inspiring views of the surrounding rugged hills and big skies. Bill was a former OSAP Board member, a valued participant in all of OSAP's Symposia and other activities, and a key part of the organization's rebranding. He had recently retired from UCSF and was still doing some work with them, but was starting to spend more time on a new passion of his and Doni's, Parelli's Natural Horsemanship. OSAP sends its sincere condolences to the Bird family.

New Ad Campaign Positions OSAP As Leading Advocate For Dental Safety

x

For more than a quarter century, OSAP has been raising awareness and advocating for infection prevention and patient and provider safety. The message is clear - dental safety is serious business. In its exciting new ad campaign, OSAP is serious about getting that message out. The ad campaign was unveiled at OSAP's Annual Symposium, Connecting to Drive Compliance June 21-23 in Atlanta.

x

"OSAP's mission is to advocate for the safe and infection-free delivery of oral healthcare," said Therese Long, OSAP Executive Director. "This new ad campaign offers a concerted effort to raise brand awareness and position OSAP as a leader in preventing the spread of infection in traditional dental settings and for emerging models of care."

x

The ad campaign features the OSAP logo emphasizing its branding while clearly stating the organization's key benefits to dentistry. The expertise offered by OSAP is the reason it serves in advisory roles to some of the world's most important public health organizations. It is a recognized resource with checklists, training programs and effective protocols to keep patients and the entire dental team safe.
