Dear Parents,
Fall Break is almost here. We will have school only on Monday (Oct. 15) and Tuesday (Oct. 16) of next week. I hope you all have a safe and relaxing break.

Playground Improvements
Ben Franklin Academy and the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) are are happy to announce that additional equipment for both playgrounds has been ordered! Through a combination of school, PTO and grant funds, we have worked hard to get the most "bang" for your "buck!" Click here to see computer renderings of the two playgrounds with both the current and new equipment. We are hopeful that installation will take place mid- to late-November, and I will let you know when the details are confirmed.
Ben Franklin Academy and the PTO thank each of you for helping to improve the play areas for all students!
Special Event Parking
If you arrive at Ben Franklin Academy for any special event parking (needing to park in the overflow area), please use the lane for Zone B (the right lane). You will have a straight shot into the overflow lot.
Lost and Found
The Lost and Found is overflowing with coats, sweatshirts, water bottles, lunch boxes and much more. Please take a moment to look in the Lost and Found to claim any items that your family may be missing. All items without names will be donated to charity after noon on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Car Pool Volunteers
Thank you so much to those of you who have volunteered to help with car pool. Your efforts at keeping our kids safe are greatly appreciated.
To make car pool safe and efficient, we do rely on quite a few parent volunteers. Please make time to volunteer with car pool as your schedule permits.

Roxborough Bus Update
For the next month, there will be a slight change in the pick-up/drop-off location because of construction in Roxborough. The construction to the current stop is scheduled to last for a month. Please note that this temporary change in pick-up and drop-off began this morning (Thursday, Oct. 11).
There is a cul-de-sac right before the parking lot where the students are currently being picked up. While the park/parking lot is closed, parents can now park in that cul-de-sac to wait for the bus. The bus will stop on Rampart Range Road at the crosswalk to pick up the students. The times will not change.
Also, the bus will begin stopping at Titan Road and Moore Road (east of the intersection) beginning today (Thursday, Oct. 11). The stop times are 7:52 a.m. and approximately 4:07 p.m. Students should be at their stop five minutes before the morning stop time.
Office Hours
Reminder: Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with a brief closure from 3:10 p.m. - 4 p.m. to assist with car pool. We have had a number of parents show up during the brief closure. It makes it difficult to focus on getting all of the children to the proper location in a timely manner. Thanks for your help with this matter.

Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes
We are pleased to announce that Ben Franklin Academy will participate in the Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes, benefiting Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. We invite your child to be a part of this opportunity where money raised goes to fund research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes, which affects nearly 3 million Americans, many of whom are diagnosed as children. Not only will the children at Ben Franklin Academy be helping to find a cure for diabetes, but they will be learning about and supporting their peers as well. For more information, please click here.
