Below you'll find an overview of the Diocese-mandated volunteer training, Safe Environment. This training is required of all volunteers at St. John Bosco, whether a parent, coach, scout leader, etc. and is important in keeping all children safe on our campus. If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact Mrs. Diane Haik in the main office via email.

As a reminder,  school office hours for July are by appointment only. Administration and office staff are working throughout the summer and can be reached by phone or email.

Happy summer,

"To show great love for God and our neighbor we need not do great things. It is how much love we put in the doing that makes our offering something beautiful for God." - Mother Teresa

Following Diocesan policy, St. John Bosco requires all volunteers to be trained in the latest Safe Environment procedures. This includes parents and grandparents, classroom or field trip volunteers, coaches, scout leaders, club monitors, etc.

For those new to the area, or to the Diocese of Phoenix, the first training volunteers must complete is called "Protecting God's Children for Adults".  This class is offered throughout the Diocese at various locations, dates, and times, all of which are scheduled here.

For your convenience, St. John Bosco will be hosting this class on Thursday, August 14 at 5:00 pm in the MPR.

Once you have gone through the first training class, you will be cleared to volunteer on campus. Again, unless you have taken the "Protecting God's Children for Adults" class, you will not be allowed to volunteer on campus or participate in any activity involving the students. Mrs. Haik will be checking all volunteers before any activity to make sure they are compliant and up-to-date with their certification.

Once you have taken the initial "Protecting God's Children for Adults" class, the annual renewal requirement is an online video that you can watch at your convenience. Online renewals for this school year must be completed between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015, and prior to any volunteer service. Click here and then go to "My Obligations" for renewals.

Registering for classes is easy and must be done online through the Safe Environment website.

Below are the links to the requirements, class descriptions and registration:

My Obligations - If you don't know whether or not you have to take a particular class, or if you are unsure of what class you need to take to renew, this area of the website will provide you with that information.

Class Descriptions - Provides basic information about the required classes.

Class Registration - Provides description of classes, dates, times and locations of upcoming classes. Follow the prompts to register for a class. This is where you will find the class being offered at St. John Bosco (classes are listed according to date offered, scroll down to find the one taking place at our school). Simply register online and you registration information will be sent to us. All you need to do after this is show up for the scheduled class.
