Stillpoint calls diocese
to new season of prayer
Beginning Sept. 22 with the fall equinox, a new season of daily "Prayer 4 Our Diocese" will commence under the leadership of Stillpoint (add website link), a diocesan institution committed to the work of deepening spiritual awareness. Supported by social media reminders, prayers are asked daily at at 4 p.m. for the diocese, the bishops and all clergy, congregations and lay leaders, and Diocesan Convention as it prepares to elect a bishop coadjutor Dec. 2-3 under the theme "Into the Future." Special intention is offered for the "liminal" time of transition and for Bishop Diocesan Jon Bruno and his family -- particularly as he continues to recover from a recent bacterial infection -- and with appreciation for his 16 years of ongoing episcopal ministry. Further information will be emailed to the diocesan community on Sept. 22. Daily social media posts will link to the annual Diocesan Cycle of Prayer and other resources. Updates are set to follow via the Episcopal News and diocesan website.
Included among the daily petitions is this prayer:
O God, our times are in your hand. Look with favor, we pray, on the Diocese of Los Angeles in these days of transition. Give us all wisdom and grace in the election of our next bishop, and receive our prayers on behalf of our bishops Jon and Diane. In this liminal time, may you show us the way toward greater and deeper service to you. We pray in the name of Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the sheep. Amen.
