L.A. City Pilgrimage 2016
City pilgrims explore ministry, faith, worship

Teenagers from eight different congregations explored urban settings "to seek God where God can be found within the city of Los Angeles" during the L.A. City Pilgrimage June 27 through July 1. The young people learned about worship environments while visiting both Our Lady of the Angels Roman Catholic Cathedral and St. John's Episcopal Cathedral; spent time with the Episcopal Urban Interns program; ministered to the homeless in MacArthur Park; and assisted with Laundry Love in Silver Lake, a program that invites the homeless and poor to a laundromat to wash their clothes at no charge. The pilgrimage was led by the Rev. Jana Milhon-Martin of St. John's, La Verne, and Gabe Vasquez-Reyez of Church of Our Saviour, San Gabriel, with assistance from Chris Tumilty, diocesan youth officer; Nancy Frausto, priest-in-charge of Trinity Church, Los Angeles; Francisco Garcia, priest-in-charge of Holy Faith Church, Inglewood; and Kelli Grace Kurtz, vicar of St. John's, La Verne, shown above leading the pilgrims in reflection and Eucharist in MacArthur Park.

Treble clef Prince of Peace Church offers free downloads of Mass settings for choir, organ and handbells
Prince of Peace Church, Woodland Hills, has made available five settings of the Mass for choir, handbells, brass and organ, written or arranged by its music director, Baude Moore, widely known as director of Prince of Peace's outstanding handbell choirs. The five settings, all of which are available free of charge, are:

  • The Southern Harmony Mass
Music based on tunes from the Southern Harmony.
  • The Timpani Mass
