Red Shirt Project Teens prepare for Red Shirt Project mission trip
Donations sought for mission work at Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota
The Red Shirt Project, a mission pilgrimage program for young people of the Diocese of Los Angeles and elsewhere, will hold its annual two-week trip to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, beginning July 3. The group is led by the Rev. Michael Cunningham, rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Lompoc, and the Rev. Robert Two Bulls, director of Indian Work for the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota, who founded the Red Shirt Project to allow young people to work with and be taught by members of the Oglala Lakota tribe, of which Two Bulls is a member. This year, 15 teenagers from Southern California will take the trip, along with five young people from the Maori Nation in New Zealand, and several adult leaders - a total of 28 travelers. Kaleidoscope Institute Kaleidoscope Institute announces summer programs
The Kaleidoscope Institute will hold its  Summer Institute July 18 -20 at the Cathedral Center of St. Paul. The program will feature two programs: Holy Currencies of Sustainable and Missional Ministries, for those planning to develop new programs; and Gracious Leadership Training: Tools for Racial Reconciliation. Class schedule is: Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The two programs will be offered simultaneously; participants must register for one or the other. World Refugee Day 2016
IRIS to take part in June 23 World Refugee Day fair

IRIS (Interfaith Refugee & Immigration Service), a program of the Diocese of Los Angeles, will be one of many agencies taking part in a World Refugee Day information fair on Thursday, June 23, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Plummer Park, 1200 N. Vista Street, West Hollywood, presented by the Refugee Forum of Los Angeles. Various sponsoring organizations, including the Los Angeles Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, will offer information on immigration, family reunification, citizenship, benefits, employment and more.      The Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew's and choir and soloists of St. Matthew's Parish perform Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major and his Requiem in D minor. As a young man in Salzburg, Mozart spent a good deal of time as a concert violinist. The youthful Violin Concerto No. 4 will be performed by the orchestra's concertmaster, Yi-Huan Zhao. As a mature composer, Mozart explored new depths of musical passion and harmonic possibilities. These are to be found nowhere better than in the Requeim, left incomplete at the time of Mozart's tragic death, age 35.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

Pilgrimage to Ireland

There is something incredibly powerful about traveling the paths of Irish saints (and some sinners) as one travels around the island containing both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This pilgrimage will explore the varieties of Christianities - Celtic, Roman and Anglican; the inspiration for Joyce, Yeats, Shaw, Beckett and Wilde; the piety of Patrick, Brigid and Aidan; the vision that produced the Titanic and her sister ships. Join Bishop Mary Glasspool and Canon Jim Newman in this pilgrimage of prayer, discovery, and wonder in the sights, the sounds, the smells and the tastes of the Emerald Isle. OAK PARK: Organist (part time). The Church of the Epiphany seeks a part-time organist to assist in its music program, which is in the Anglican choral tradition. Working under the supervision of the director of music, the organist would initially be primarily responsible for accompanying the parish choir at two rehearsals and two services per month (including preludes and postludes), from September through May, on a schedule to be determined, plus occasional additional special services, such as Choral Evensong and Advent Lessons and Carols.  The organist would also substitute for the director of music as needed during the summer. The organist would play both the 2-manual E&GG Hook pipe organ and a 2-manual Roland digital organ.  Initial compensation would be $250 per rehearsal/service combination. Camp Stevens' farm and garden director, Diego Duran, plans to start a volunteer program, but needs some tools to get started. The camp is looking for donations of shovels, hoes, digging forks, broad forks, trowels, and wheelbarrows. Items can be used if they are still in good working condition.
