Honoring the fallen on Memorial Day
Continuing a tradition begun several years ago, the Program Group on Youth & Young Adult Ministries, with members of St. John's Church, La Verne, placed United States flags at graves of fallen soldiers at Riverside National Cemetery on May 28. The group also led a prayer service at the Medal of Honor Memorial site. 'Cycle of Blessings' CD features music by Eric Law, N2K and Theodicy The Rev. Canon Eric Law, the music duo N2K and the Theodicy Jazz Collective, led by the Rev. Andrew Barnett, have released "Cycle of Blessings," a CD of music selections composed by Law and featured in his recent book, Holy Currency Exchange. Law, along with Sandra Montes, William Cruse, Lillian Chambliss and guest artists Kim Harris and Reggie Harris provide vocals for the recording. N2K is percussionist and Episcopal priest Norm Freeman and violinist Katherine Cash, artists in residence at the Procathedral of St. John in Los Angeles. Theodicy was formed at Oberlin Conservatory in 2006, developed during residency at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music from 2008 to 20012, and has continued to perform and record ever since. The album is available for $16 at the Cathedral Bookstore at the Cathedral Center (213.482.2040), or through the web retailers cdbaby, Amazon and iTunes. Sales benefit the Kaleidoscope Institute, which provides resources to equip church leaders to create sustainable churches and communities.

Summer sessions coming at Camp Stevens
Camp Stevens, the Diocese of Los Angeles' facility in Julian, California, offers summer camping sessions for children and teens, during which youngsters can take part in all the classic camp activities - hikes, swimming, archery, crafts and more - and also learn about growing food in the camp's organic gardens, make friends with the resident chickens, camp out under the stars, and take part in daily reflection and worship. One-week sessions for campers ages 8 - 15 will begin July 3 and continue through Aug. 6; two-week sessions and off-campus backpacking and kayaking trips are also available for older teens. Celebrate a quarter century of ministry by EUIP interns June 2
The Jubilee Consortium invites all to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Episcopal Urban Intern Program on Thursday, June 2, 7 - 10 p.m. at The Carondelet House (pictured), 627 S. Carondelet Street, Los Angeles 90057. Bishop Frederick H. Borsch, Bishop Diane Jardine Bruce, the Rev. Gary Commins (founding director) and the Rev. Jaime Edwards-Acton (current director) will be among those gathering to celebrate a quarter century of dedicated service by nearly 200 interns who have come from all over the country to help some of LA's finest nonprofit organizations to address some of its most crucial needs. Attendees will be invited to envision what the next 25 years of EUIP could be. Malibu parish to celebrate property renovation St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, Malibu, will celebrate the completion of its major hillside road and parking facility renovation at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. The outdoor ribbon cutting ceremony will acknowledge the scores of St. Aidan's parishioners who have committed faith and finance to the long-range renovation vision. Food and communal celebration will follow in the church's courtyard. Church parishioners, friends, neighbors, community members, and city officials, are invited to attend. The recently completed road and parking facility upgrade was the first phase of a multi-million dollar renovation plan for the 4.3-acre church campus. The project culminates in a major remodel of the 55-year-old church building, which was first dedicated in May, 1961. As St. Aidan's enters its 56th year at its present location, its mission statement is to be "the welcoming heart, hands, and voice of Christ in Malibu." Epiphany, Los Angeles, to mark Lincoln Heights 'Raise Our Pride' event June 18 The Wall Las Memorias Project and the leadership of the Church of the Epiphany, Los Angeles, will take part in the first Lincoln Heights "Raise Our Pride" event on Saturday, June 18 at 5:30p.m. Community members are invited to partake in the dedication and raising of the LGBT flag at Epiphany, to be displayed during Pride month. The evening's programming will include an overview of LGBT history in Los Angeles, an update of current HIV/AIDS statistics, the LGBT flag dedication, and a reception, among other activities. The celebration will take place at the historic 120-year-old Church of the Epiphany, located on 2808 Altura Street, Los Angeles 90031. This free and interdenominational event is open to all members of the Lincoln Heights communit;, however registration is highly encouraged. Stillpoint retreat will feature 'BioSpiritual Focusing' for spiritual transformation Stillpoint: The Center for Christian Spirituality, an institution of the Diocese of Los Angeles, will offer "The Body's Role in Spiritual Transformation: BioSpiritual Focusing," part of its "Nurturing the Spirit" retreat series, on Saturday, June 18, 9 a.m. 3 p.m., at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1050 East Altadena Drive, Altadena. The Rev. Elizabeth Rechter, executive director of Stillpoint, will lead the workshop. "The starting point for any path to wholeness is our personal inner journey of growing into communion with ourselves," according to a Stillpoint announcement. "You are invited to experience a process of inner exploration into your own body's wisdom called 'BioSpiritual Focusing.' This spiritual practice offers opportunities to assist in developing a quality of listening presence - both within oneself and with another person. Parents invited to screening of 'Screenagers' St. James' Church, South Pasadena, will present "Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age," a documentary about the major parenting issue of young people and digital devices, on Sunday, June 12 at 4 p.m. "Screenagers" reveals how tech time impacts kids' development, and also offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the digital world to find balance. Kids can learn to jump rope for fun, fitness at 'Jubilee Jump' Jubilee Ministries, centered at St. Stephen's Church, Hollywood, is launching "Jubilee Jump!" a program for youth ages 8 - 16, coached and run by world champion jump roper Mike Fry, who is also the founder of One World One Rope, a jump rope organization dedicated to sharing the sport with the developing world. Participants in Jubilee Jump! will learn the sport of jump rope, including amazing tricks and skills, have fun and get fit. Class days and locations are:

Guibord Center to host Tibetan monks for 'Week of Spirituality' at St. John's ProCathedral The Guibord Center will host the Tibetan monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery for "A Week of Spirituality" June 14 - 19 at the ProCathedral of St. John, 514 W Adams Blvd, Los Angeles 90007. The monks will create a sand mandala every day (except Thursday) between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., and individuals and groups are invited to "join in celebrating this creation, this spirituality and this unity by visiting St. John's Cathedral any time during the week to watch them work and see their progress," according to an event announcement. Groups may reserve special times for visits with the monks; activities to engage children and youth in creating their own mandalas will be available. Several special events are also part of the week's schedule:
* Tuesday, June 14, 1 p.m. Opening Ceremony The space will be cleared and the energy set. The lines will be drawn to enable the creation of the Mandala of Compassion.
* Friday, June 17, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Guided Meditation

TCLA Artistic Director Lindsey Deaton collaborated with the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles to give birth to this exciting new chorus, which has performed for the City of West Hollywood's Transgender Day of Remembrance, for U.S. Congressman Mike Honda (chair of the Transgender Equality Task Force), and are scheduled to sing for the City of Los Angeles's LGBT Heritage Month in June as well as at this year's L.A. As a young man in Salzburg, Mozart spent a good deal of time as a concert violinist. The youthful Violin Concerto No. 4 will be performed by the orchestra's concertmaster, Yi-Huan Zhao. As a mature composer, Mozart explored new depths of musical passion and harmonic possibilities. These are to be found nowhere better than in the Requeim, left incomplete at the time of Mozart's tragic death, age 35.
