Music Collaborative set to serve diocesan community
A new resource for Episcopal Church musicians and music-lovers in Southern California is taking shape via social media and forthcoming web pages. Formation of the diocesan Music Collaborative, a forum for sharing expertise and information, was announced by Bishop Jon Bruno at the June 12 Disney Hall festival concert marking the Episcopal Church's 150th year of parish ministry in Southern California.
"Joining Voices" is the name of a Facebook page newly dedicated to serving the collaborative. Interested followers are encouraged to search and "like" the page, which is designed to share useful information among parish music directors, choir singers, organists, other musicians, and concert-goers. Topics of interest will include continuing education opportunities, concert schedules, job openings, and other useful news and information. Workshops and the possibility of broadcast opportunities are among goals for future exploration. Web pages are in development and planned for launch later this year. The collaborative is a project of the diocesan Office of Community Relations, with Janet Kawamoto serving as staff liaison. For further information, email editor@ladiocese.org or phone 213.482.2040, ext. 251.
