Interfaith Walk 2015
All are welcome for Interdependence Walk on July 3

At the request of local interfaith leaders, a one-hour Walking Meditation on Interdependence will return to Echo Park Lake at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 3. All are welcome. "Our objectives are to contemplate and to strengthen our interconnectedness as people and communities of faith," said Bob Williams, diocesan canon for community relations and incoming president of the Interreligious Council of Southern California. The walk, introduced last year in a midday format, includes silent meditation between six stations of prayer led in the Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islamic and Jewish traditions. A bell of mindfulness is rung in procession around the lake, where lotus and waterlilies are in full bloom. This year's evening observance will feature both the lighting of Japanese lanterns and the sharing of an interfaith Iftar meal, at no charge, to break the day's fast of Ramadan. Iftar co-sponsors include members of the Islamic Center of Southern California. Call 213.482.2040, ext. 220, for more information.
