Coadjutor search Coadjutor search committee calls for series of 14 'listening sessions'

The Coadjutor Search Committee is beginning the process of developing a profile for the Diocese of Los Angeles, and it is seeking help from the entire diocesan community.

The committee, which is charged with identifying candidates for the election of a bishop coadjutor who will eventually succeed J. Jon Bruno as bishop of Los Angeles, has planned a series of "listening sessions" throughout the diocese between now and the end of July.

"We are interested in listening to your vision of who we are and who we aspire to be as a diocese and the skills and qualities you believe are necessary for a leader who will shepherd us in the years to come," wrote the Rev. Canon Julian Bull, chair of the committee.

"Each session will provide an opportunity for sharing your perspective both in writing and verbally," Bull wrote. "Each of the geographical meetings will provide separate breakout groups for lay people and for clergy." Sessions will be available in English, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Spanish and American Sign Language.

"Each session will be two hours in length and will be conducted through an intentional listening process established through the Kaleidoscope Institute," Bull wrote.

The committee requests that interested parishioners and clergy register for the session they wish to attend by visiting the search committee web page here.

According to Bull, committee members are developing online and hard-copy survey materials for those who are unable to attend one of the sessions. Information about these resources will be posted here as it becomes available, and will be noted in the Episcopal News Weekly and Update (www.episcopalnews.com).
