Lincoln tribute Sunday afternoon will feature original eulogy delivered by St. Athanasius' pastor
All are welcome at the Cathedral Center at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 19 for a 150th-year tribute to Abraham Lincoln and his legacy. The gathering occurs 150 years to the day after L.A.'s original civic memorial gathering at which Episcopal priest Elias Birdsall, first rector of St. Athanasius Church, delivered the public funeral oration to acclaim of local leaders and press. Featuring music by the Episcopal Chorale, the gathering will include a re-reading of Birdsall's eulogy, and a call to renewed civil rights action by Bishop Jon Bruno. The commemoration is part of the parish's ongoing "Horizons & Heritage" observance of 150 years of continuing ministry.
