Noel Coward tribute raises funds for City of Hope
Choir members from St. George's Church, La Cańada, raised more than $2,500 for City of Hope at "A Marvelous Party: A Musical Tribute to Noel Coward" on June 11. The musical revue of Coward's songs was produced by the Rev. Anthony Keller, deacon at St. George's, and the parish's music director, Connie Grisham. The performers chose City of Hope to receive the funds raised because their tenor soloist Daniel Chaney -- who performed at the event -- and Bishop J. Jon Bruno of the Diocese of Los Angeles both received successful treatment there in the past two years.

At 30, 50 or 70,
who do you want to be?

by Malcolm Boyd

A huge newspaper headline is unmistakable:

[NAME] IS DEAD AT 57.

What is startling is that the life ended at 57. The age of 90 makes complete sense for such an obituary. So does 78 or 87, maybe even 68. But not 57. Isn't that too young?

St. Paul's Episcopal Church celebrates garden at Rogation Sunday
 (Photo gallery)
St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Tustin recently commemorated the ancient custom of Rogation Sunday. The celebration has its roots in fifth century England, when a good or poor harvest could make or break an agrarian village. Today, St. Paul's uses Rogation Sunday to celebrate the abundance of its community organic garden, which is so successful that it now provides year-round fresh produce for the 150 guests at its weekly free Sunday Suppers.
