Shelley WeitzelACA enrollment begins;
help is at hand

The new health insurance marketplace established for California under the national Affordable Care Act opened Oct. 1, and the Diocese of Los Angeles has launched a program to help its members and others determine their eligibility and options.
Covered California is the state government program formed to develop an organized marketplace where citizens and legal residents of California can buy health coverage as required under ACA. Anyone can log onto its website at www.coveredca.com to compare several plans and choose the one that best suits their needs. Church members who need help understanding the new system can call on Diocesan Health Outreach Coordinator Shelley Weitzel (pictured), who is available to conduct outreach and education activities that will raise awareness about opportunities for affordable healthcare coverage. Weitzel is already holding forums and information sessions at congregations, schools, institutions and church organizations throughout the diocese to provide information about the new insurance marketplace, answer questions and help people apply online. For information or to schedule a forum, contact Weitzel at [email protected] or 818.398.3670.
