Third Sunday of Easter

O God, whose blessed Son made himself known to his
disciples in the breaking of bread: Open the eyes of our faith, that we may behold him in all his redeeming work; who lives

and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and for ever. Amen.

What's the Difference between the E-News and E-Chronicle?

The E-News comes out twice a month, usually the closest business day to the 1st and 16th. It contains announcements for upcoming events and other important information that needs to get out.

The E-Chronicle, on the other hand, has less urgency. It comes out every other month, and reports on events that have already taken place.  It may also feature special interest stories and reflections from folks around the Diocese.

We're here to help you spread the word about any events you have coming up (E-News), and also sharing the results with others in the Diocese (E-Chronicle). Send over your fliers, notices, photos and stories... you never know whose life you could impact or inspire!

To submit information for an upcoming event or to share photos and information on an event that has taken place, e-mail Communications.

'Iolani Guild Spring Luncheon - Saturday, May 3
Leilani Kupahu Marino

For its last general meeting of the academic year, the 'Iolani Guild will feature special guest speaker Leilani Kupahu Marino.  Marino is a kumu hula and also a nurse who specializes in palliative care for seriously ill children and support for their families.

Her talk is a timely one with the celebration of Prince Albert on May 20, coming up.   Prince Albert was the beloved son of Queen Emma and Kamehameha IV who died at the age of four, leaving his parents and the whole Hawaiian kingdom grieving.  Leilani will talk about culturally based services for seriously ill children and their families.

The meeting starts at 11:00 am in the Von Holt Room of The Cathedral of St. Andrew, followed by a potluck lunch.  Please bring a dish to share.  Leilani will speak as we enjoy our lunch with the meeting wrapping up at 1:30 p.m.  All members of the 'Iolani Guild, The Cathedral, and Diocese who are interested in Hawaiian history and culture, or who would like to learn more about the 'Iolani Guild, are welcome to attend. For more information, e-mail Ann Hansen.

PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED EVENT REMINDERS:
Speaker Series at Emmanuel:
Can We End Homelessness in Hawai'i?
Colin Kippen, the Governor's Homelessness Coordinator for the State of Hawai'i, and Chair of the Interagency Council for Homelessness, will be the guest speaker at Emmanuel Episcopal Church's continuing Speaker Series. The meeting will take place on Thursday, May 8, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, located at 780 Keolu Drive in Kailua.  The event is free and open to all.

Colin believes that ending homelessness requires "all hands on deck" and that the solutions we craft must fully involve the government, the private sector, the service providers, the faith based communities, and the general public to a degree we have yet to fully achieve. Come to the meeting on May 8,
to learn what is going on and how you can be part of the solution.
