Improving Criminal Justice Systems, Including Police Protection: Necessary for Overcoming Extreme Poverty
This is a supplement to a February 13 article in this newsletter.

The book, "The Locust Effect" by the President of the International Justice Mission, Gary Haugen, tells the personal stories of victims of rape, trafficking, land grabbing, false imprisonment, and unjust treatment by criminal courts. The book also provides statistics about the prevalence of such crimes and injustices particularly in third world countries and affecting the very poor.
A valuable resource is the website The Locust Effect which describes the work of International Justice Mission (IJM) about IJM and contains an impressive illustrated list of endorsements.
The International Justice Mission has its own website, which is also a valuable resource.
