Parents invited to read to students
Parents joined their first graders on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Oak Grove to participate in DEAR Day, which stands for drop everything and read. Real estate agents from Poplar Bluff Realty, the elementary school sponsor, also visited classrooms to read books to students.

An ECH Thanksgiving
Students at the Poplar Bluff Early Childhood Center dressed up as Pilgrims, Native Americans and turkeys to celebrate their annual Thanksgiving Feast served by staff on Tuesday, Nov. 25, in the school cafeteria.

October Athletes of the Month named
The Poplar Bluff Mules Booster Club has selected the PBHS Competition Cheer Squad and Mules Cross-Country star Isaiah Williams as Athletes of the Month for October.
Williams, a junior, has been competing in cross-country for eight years. On Nov. 8, he vied in the Missouri State High School Activities Association Cross-County State Championship in Jefferson City, placing 55th. He qualified the week prior during the Class 4 Sectional in Farmington.
For the second consecutive year, the Cheer Squad won the Class 4 Large Squad division of the Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association State Championship on Oct. 5 in Columbia. They will compete in the UCA Bootheel Classic national qualifier on Sunday, Dec. 7, in Cape Girardeau.

EF Music Program
Eugene Field first graders will hold a music program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the elementary school.
OG Christmas Program
Oak Grove third and fourth graders will hold a Christmas program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in First Baptist Church.
Christmas Tree Forest
The public is invited to view the Christmas Tree Forest from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Poplar Bluff History Museum in the former Mark Twain School on Main Street. Ornaments were crafted by area elementary students. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
LR Christmas Program
Lake Road first and second graders will hold a Christmas program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in the elementary school gym.
Jingle Jog
The 10th annual Jingle Jog will take place on Friday, Dec. 12, at Oak Grove Elementary, beginning at 9 a.m. Click here for details.
Pancake Breakfast
A Pancake Breakfast to benefit the PBHS Competition Cheer Squad on their pursuit to compete in nationals at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney World will take place from 7-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Junior High. Santa will be there beginning at 8 a.m., and a photographer will be on hand.
ECH Christmas Program
The Early Childhood Center will hold a series of Christmas programs at 9 a.m., 10, 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 Thursday, Dec. 18, in the gym. For additional details, call 573-785-6803.
O'Neal Christmas Program
O'Neal will hold a Christmas program at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, in the elementary school cafeteria.

On Monday, Nov. 24, the DAR recognized our 5th & 6th Grade Center Honor Roll.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, the DAR recognized our Eugene Field and O'Neal Elementary honor students.
The DAR also honored our Math Counts winners.
On Wednesday, Nov. 26, KFVS12 ran a release about the PBHS Beta Club's recent toy drive for Whole Kids Outreach.
The DAR published a photo spread from the ECH Thanksgiving Feast.
On Friday, Nov. 28, the DAR published an article about Alpha Beta members showing their appreciation to teachers and staff at 5&6.
The DAR also recognized our PBJHS physical education Students of the Month.
