Betas donate toys to Whole Kids Outreach
An annual civic project of the Poplar Bluff High School Beta Club, students recently held a toy drive for the Whole Kids Outreach Share-A-Toy Christmas store. Nichole Gillis, Whole Kids Outreach specialist and former employee of the Poplar Bluff Kindergarten Center, picked up the donation on Friday, Nov. 21.
Whole Kids Outreach, a nonprofit based in Ellington, serves Butler, Carter, Iron, Reynolds, Shannon and Wayne counties. Click here for more information on the organization.

Interior design of buildings plan discussed
R-I administrators met with planning officials on Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Administrative Building, to discuss the interior design of the future high school and intermediate school.
Laura Haller, director of interiors at Ittner Architects, led a dialogue about the flooring, ceiling plan, paint scheme, wall graphics, and relocating landmarks and other memorabilia. Plumbing, heating and cooling, and energy savings options with regard to lighting was also discussed with planners.
The anchor projects of the buildings plan are set to go to bid in February, once the final blueprints are completed.

Annual Academic Letter Banquet held
A total of 188 high schoolers earned their academic letter awards during a banquet Thursday, Nov. 6, at the 5th & 6th Grade Center, sponsored by the Academic Assistance Group, a "booster club" for academic departments and functions at Poplar Bluff High School. In order to earn their letters, students have to maintain a yearly accumulative 10.25 grade point average and take three of the four core classes.

Splash Out Cancer

Thanksgiving Break
School will dismiss on Wednesday, Nov. 26, for a teacher collaboration day. and resume on Monday, Dec. 1.
Kinder Songs Concert
The Kindergarten Center will hold a concert from 1:30-2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1.
OG Christmas Program
Oak Grove third and fourth graders will hold a Christmas program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in First Baptist Church.
EF Music Program
Eugene Field first graders will hold a music program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the elementary school.
LR Christmas Program
Lake Road first and second graders will hold a Christmas program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in the gym.
ECC Christmas Program
The Early Childhood Center will hold a series of Christmas programs at 9 a.m., 10, 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 Thursday, Dec. 18, in the gym. For additional details, call 573-785-6803.
O'Neal Christmas Program
O'Neal Elementary will hold a Christmas program at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, in the cafeteria.

On Monday, Nov. 17, the DAR recognized Darian Sales for her leadership in the Graduate for Mas program.
On Tuesday, Nov. 18, the DAR reported about PBHS senior Brandon Stuckenschneider signing to play ball for Arkansas State.
KFVS12 featured students from 5/6 reciting the Pledge of Allegiance on the Breakfast Show.
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the DAR reported about Mules alumnus Harold Robinson getting inducted into the Lincoln University Hall of Fame.
On Thursday, Nov. 20, the DAR honored our PBJHS Students of the Month who excelled in elective courses.
The DAR also recognized Lake Road's Students of the Month and Honor Roll.
Lastly, the DAR recognized several Mules soccer players for being named to the All-SEMO Conference first team.
On Sunday, Nov. 23, the DAR published a front-page feature story about the popular Mules Café.
