A NOTE FROM PASTOR TIM

You will be seeing more of this logo - it suggests a family raising their arms in celebration and growth. It is our logo for Growing Faith as we live out our vision to be a faith family, growing together in worship and service.

Nancy Exline reported recently that we now have some 250 children and youth involved in our programs. Worship attendance has continued to increase - as you know both the narthex and parlor have now become part of our permanent Sunday seating. And on Christmas Eve, we had more than 100 people sitting in Fellowship Hall, participating in worship, and watching via the television screens.   Our ministry of hospitality - a church where the center is Jesus Christ and not our own ideologies - continues to attract more people. Will it slow down? - it does not appear likely; Cape Coral is growing (projected to increase from our current population of 156,000 to 400,000 by 2050).

Fifty years ago, a group of believers gathered and began developing our campus so that those who came after them would find a church home. Today we continue this dream - a church for all, where everyone is welcome, where 'God alone is Lord of the conscience', where 'giving back' is critical.   May we continue to impact the children and youth of our community; may we continue to feed the hungry, visit the lonely, encourage the fainthearted, and may we always proclaim a ministry of love and justice.

THANK YOU

Another year of providing Christmas gifts to children of We Care clients has successfully passed and the Mission Committee would like to express its sincere thanks to everyone who participated.

This year we had 271 children with over 550 gifts wrapped.  In addition there were families with 84 children who joined the program too late to be part of our gift program. These families received a $25 gift card for each child. We also provided gifts for 11 children for the Children's Home Society in Fort Myers. In total, 366 children were served by this congregation.

There was overwhelming gratitude from those receiving the gifts. One story tells it all. A woman came in and had told her daughter not to expect anything at Christmas because there were people more needy than they were. She was still crying when we loaded a bicycle into her car for her five year old daughter. Many, many notes of sincere thanks were written to us by participants.

Making all this possible is the generosity of the congregation, Angel Circle, who leads the wrapping of gifts along with many additional volunteers and the We Care staff. Additionally, there are volunteers who help organize the individual gifts into the families and then distribute to our clients and others who step in to make things work smoothly like managing traffic, providing translation services, dropping off extra wrapping paper and extra gifts, and people who contribute financially without taking an actual tag from the tree.

The size of the program and its outreach to our community can only be met by the wide-spread participation of our congregation. Once again, Faith has demonstrated that the spirit of Christ resides here.
