Dear Tourism Stakeholder,

Voici les nouvelles (Here is the news):

Iberian Ambassadors of the Week

Louisiana Day
Merci Mademoiselle Sammie Armentor, a 7th grader at Highland Baptist Christian School in New Iberia, and her mother, Madame Cheri Armentor, for teaching Zachary Elementary's students about Louisiana's culture, language and heritage on April 17. They are pictured with Monsieur Louis Mier of Zachary Elementary.

Sammie sewed her costume herself. She made 400 Mardi Gras bead stars--a creative way of using leftover Mardi Gras beads--for the children in Zachary, and she passed them out in the "Mardi Gras Mask-Making Station." She also spoke to the classes about her participation in the Courir de Mardi Gras.

Sammie and Cheri will hold a similar "Louisiana Day" for Highland Baptist's 32 third graders today. Stations will include music/dancing, art, Mardi gras, storytelling, old time games, Cajun cuisine, and the Bayou Teche Project/trapping industry.

Monsieur Paul Schexnayder with A&E Gallery and a member of the Teche Project will participate in the program.

IPCVB provided ditty bags and pocket visitor guides.
