DETAILS: The gifted and talented sixth graders of Iberia Parish will host a commemorative walk celebrating the grand opening of the Joe Daigre Bridge over Bayou Teche at Jefferson/Indest Streets on Saturday, May 10, beginning at City Hall on Main Street at 9 a.m. and proceeding through downtown to the Jefferson Street bridge.
Upon arrival at the bridge, the sixth graders will lead a ceremony, which will include a flag-raising, a ribbon cutting, and remarks by New Iberia Mayor Hilda Curry. The event is free and open to the public. T-shirts will be sold for $15 with the profits dedicated to the West End Park play ground revitalization project.
