We are excited to celebrate ten years of making a difference in the community and we have planned a lovely evening of dining, dancing and fun!

Community Garden Officially "Opens"

The ribbon cutting for the community garden at the Punta Gorda Safety Complex was held June 6.
|
Punta Gorda chief of police Butch Arenal addressed those assembled for the ceremony to officially open the Safety Complex community garden.
The project came about as the result of work done by a variety of entities including the police department, TEAM Punta Gorda, Mosaic, Punta Gorda city staff, AMIkids Crossroads and Master Gardeners.

Kudos as well to Clarisa Parodi, Co-Chair of the TEAM Community Garden Committee and project manager for the safety complex community garden. Her countless hours of effort paid off with a terrific outcome for the community!

All rides/food/beverage require tickets, except waterslides & bounce houses which accept tickets or an all-day wristband. An all-day wristband for waterslides and bounce houses is $10 per day.
All proceeds go to support the Punta Gorda Fireworks

Free Bicycle Loaner Brochure/Map
Now available!
Thanks to the efforts of the TEAM Punta Gorda Bicycle Loaner Committee, the revised and updated map and brochure is now available. The document will be placed at numerous locations in the community.
To access a PDF file of the document, visit the TEAM Punta Gorda website www.teampuntagorda.org and click on "What We Do" and then "Bicycle Loaner." This will take you to a page describing the free loaner bicycle program including a link to the brochure.

Sheriff's Office and TEAM: Partners in Planting
Volunteers from TEAM Punta Gorda gathered recently at a home in Punta Gorda along with officers from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office to "get down and dirty" installing plants and flowers.
The plants, flowers, and mulch were provided at a greatly reduced rate by Powell Nursery and by inmates at the Charlotte County Correctional Facility. The inmates revive unsold Walmart flowers and plants previously destined for the dumpster so they can be planted in the community.

Wheels and Wings - July 6
Peace River Riders
The Peace River Riders are sponsoring "Wheels and Wings V" on Sunday, July 6.
The event includes rides of various lengths, "Gentleman's Race," Roubaix - Speed Trap Alley, Mystery Ride, wings, drinks, SAG support and much more!

Over 30 "beautiful bikes" adorn our community!
Thanks to TEAM Beautification Chair Suzanne McCormick and the hardworking volunteers on her committee for creating this project and maintaining the bicycle plantings!

Emergency Alert!
Pirates to invade Punta Gorda!
Droves of pirates and thousands of spectators are making plans to be part of this year's Pirate Fest!
This popular event will be held July 25, 26 & 27 in the waterside town of Punta Gorda. Each year the Mayor of Punta Gorda officially proclaims this fun city as "A Quaint little fishing village with a pirate problem."

TEAM Leadership Updates
Best wishes and thanks to Melissa Sanders-McCarthy
Long-time TEAM volunteer and board member, Melissa Sanders-McCarthy has left her position at Bayfront Health in Punta Gorda.
She will be moving to California where she will be the Regional Administrator for 21st Century Oncology overseeing their Northern California area. We are sad to see Melissa leave us but wish her the best in her new adventures.

We make every effort to include in our calendar upcoming events. Given how much is going on all the time in our community, it's a challenge.

Every Saturday: Farmers Market, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in downtown Punta Gorda. Lots of great vendors with fresh fruits and vegetables, live music, crafts and other great buys. Visit nearby murals and enjoy some of the great downtown restaurants.
Every Sunday: Visit the Punta Gorda Historical Society's farmers market from
9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the History Park, 501 Shreve St. Shop for veggies, meats, plants and gifts. Call 941-380-6814 for more information.
