Last Thursday, October 15, the LA Fashion District BID hosted it's first-ever "An Urban Dinner Party." The event was a grand success! The dinner featured a four-course meal by Chef Felix Barron, IV of KTCHN LA. Guests were seated at 96-foot-long table in the middle of Santee Street and were treated to a tour of the newly renovated Garment Lofts. If you missed the event, you can see photos on our Instagram and Facebook. We'll be posting the official event photos in the next few days.

Citizens of Humanity Opens Showroom on Los Angeles St.

Designer denim line, Citizens of Humanity, relocated its Beverly Boulevard pop-up to a permanent showroom space in the Lady Liberty Building, with the goal of having headquarters work alongside their sales team. The 4,000-square-foot showroom was designed by Montalba Architects, the same folks who designed Isabel Marant's and The Row's LA stores. The new showroom was featured on Racked LA and LA Downtown News.
Santee Alley has a New Website!
The Santee Alley debuted a new website last week. The redesign features an upgraded look and design allowing visitors to access it on mobile and tablet devices. Visitors can now search the Santee Alley store directory by category and product type, locate nearby parking lots, and access the Santee Alley blog directly from the site. LA Fashion Market Spring 2016
The Fashion District hosted the Spring 2016 LA Fashion Market October 12-15. Designer showrooms welcomed buyers from around the world including notable names like American Rag, Barneys New York, Kitson, StitchFix.com, and Zappos. Sales reps reported an upbeat market with many buyers placing orders on immediates. California Apparel News noted that the unseasonably warm weather made many wary of placing too much emphasis on fall items creating opportunity for spring collections. Sidewalk Vending Public Hearing, October 27th
On Tuesday, October 27th, the City Council is considering a proposal to allow unlimited and unregulated sidewalk vending throughout the city. Unlimited and unregulated sidewalk vending will negatively impact brick & mortar businesses and the quality of life for Downtown residents. Tell the city what you think about sidewalk vending!

Minimum Wage Seminar for Businesses on November 3rd
Fashion District businesses are invited to attend a Minimum Wage Ordinance Training on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 1:30- 4 p.m. Learn how the ordinance will be implemented and how it will affect your business. The seminar is hosted by the Office of Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer and Public Works Bureau of Contract Administration (BCA).
