Please join us for An Urban Dinner Party, October 15
On Thursday, October 15, the BID is transforming a block of Santee Street for "An Urban Dinner Party". The fine dining pop-up will feature a four-course meal by local chef Felix Barron, IV of KTCHN LA and complimentary wine provided by Finca La Malena. One hundred dinner guests will take to Santee Street as we transform the area into the ultimate urban dining experience. A 96-foot table will be set up on the street between 8th Street and the Santee Village parking garage.
The deadline to purchase tickets is October 8th! With only 100 seats available for this event, tickets are selling fast. Please purchase your tickets as soon as possible, as we are expecting to sell out. Envision white linens, a beautiful tablescape, and sparkling lights overhead as guests enjoy music from local band Jazz Fondue. The dinner will kick off with appetizers - veggie curry chips, young coconut ceviche on a tostada with serrano cream, and crispy pork belly served with maple pear, caramelized onion, and fried quail egg over arugula. The main course will be roasted lamb with brandy demi served with roasted quince cous cous with kumquat, caramelized onions, almonds, and pea tendrils. Roasted cauliflower steaks will be available for vegetarian guests. The evening will end on a sweet note - plum cobbler topped with malted bread ice cream. Discover LA features LA Fashion District for a day
The LA Tourism & Convention Board dedicated its media day to the Fashion District on September 17th. They highlighted our various sub-districts including textiles, wholesale, retail, flowers, Santee Alley, nightlife, Ace Hotel and The Orpheum. The district was promoted because the BID is a member of the Tourism Board and we have a good relationship with them. Content from our website and social media was used to populate theirs. The LA Tourism & Convention Board has huge social media reach with over a million followers on Facebook alone. You can see our Discover LA feature here.
BID Clean Team pressure washing district every 3 weeks
Due to an increase in calls for service, the BID Clean Team has added two additional part-time staff members to the pressure washing crew. We are now receiving an average of 30 calls per week compared to an average of 10 calls per week. The added staff time allows us to complete the additional requests in a timely manner and complete pressure washing the entire district every 3 weeks as opposed to once a month.
