New Fashion District Arts & Culture Calendar

The LA Fashion District has seen an increase in entertainment and cultural events open to the public. In response to the increased activity, the BID has begun to track events and has created an Arts & Entertainment Calendar for Safe & Clean Team deployment. You can see the June events calendar here. If you have an entertainment or cultural event that requires safety or cleaning services, please contact Jasmine Ramos at 213-488-1153.

Proposition D Puts Medical Marijuana Responsibility on Property Owners

On June 20, 2013 Proposition D went into effect. Proposition D prohibits medical marijuana businesses, which are defined as "any location where marijuana is cultivated, processed, distributed or given away to a qualified patient, a person with an identification card, or a primary caregiver." Limited immunity is provided to businesses who meet the specified requirements set out in Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) section 45.19.3, see here.

Unless the occupying business is immunized, it is a violation of Proposition D to rent, lease, or otherwise permit a medical marijuana business to occupy or rent a location. It is the property owner's responsibility to determine that the business has met all of the requirements for immunity.

Violating Proposition D is a misdemeanor punishable by six months in jail and/or $1,000 fine for each day that a business is permitted to remain at a location. For additional information, click here.
