STREET CLOSURE NOTICE: Friday, May 1 May Day Marches
As in years past, several groups are planning demonstrations for Friday, May 1, 2015. Most of the listed organizers have applied for and were granted permits with the City of Los Angeles. Listed below are the known events that will or possibly will impact the immediate Fashion District area. The Fashion District BID does not have further information regarding these events. We will send out further notifications if there are significant changes.
Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition

- Northbound - Broadway to Temple
American Apparel - Immigration Integration
Assemble: 2:30 PM - American Apparel Headquarters (7th & Alameda)
March Start: 3:00 PM
Route 1:
- Westbound - 7th Street to Central Avenue
- Northbound - Central Avenue to 5th Street
- Westbound - 5th Street to Spring Street
- Northbound - Spring Street to City Hall or Grand Park
STREET CLOSURE NOTICE: Saturday, May 16 Steve Aoki "LAoki" Concert
Please save the date for the upcoming LAoki Show scheduled for Saturday, May 16 which will impact local traffic in the Downtown area. This live concert will take place on Broadway between 3rd and 7th Street from 8PM-11PM. All buildings within the event's street closure perimeter will be completely accessible and all sidewalks will remain open to pedestrian traffic for the duration of the event. Please be aware that all parking lots located on Broadway between 3rd and 7th Streets WILL NOT BE ACCESSIBLE DURING THE EVENT.

North-South Streets
Broadway closed between 3rd and 7th Street

East-West Streets

Fashion District BID Executive Director Speaks to LA Times about Illegal Vending
"You can create all the regulations you want. But the reality is unless there's someone there to enforce it, it's not going to happen." Fashion District BID Executive Director, Kent Smith was quoted in the LA Times this week regarding the City's proposed legalization of street vending.
BID Staff has been working with many other Business Improvement Districts in Los Angeles to highlight the potential problems of legalizing street vending without first ensuring proper regulation. Read the LA Times article, here.
BID Staff Met with Peter Lynn, Executive Director of Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) BID Staff attended the Central City Association (CCA) Homelessness Policy Committee Meeting on Wednesday, April 29 and heard a presentation from Peter Lynn, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). Mr. Lynn presented on LAHSA's priorities and initiatives. United Way presented on its Home for Good program to end veteran homelessness by the end of 2015. If you know of a homeless veteran in the district please call us so we can assist them in getting housed.
The New Mart Launches New Mart Network on YouTube The New Mart launched "New Mart Network", an interview series with some of the biggest names in fashion that aims to promote the LA fashion industry and businesses who are part of it. Past interviews have included Peter Kim of Hudson Jeans and Deborah Pollakus of Moda 360. Fashion District Executive Director, Kent Smith and Marketing & PR Manager, Ariana Gomez will be featured in an upcoming video. See the interviews, here.
