BID Safe Team Helps LAPD Arrest Kidnapping Suspect

On Tuesday, April 14, 2015 BID Safety Officer Desiree Garces assisted LAPD Detective Castro, Newton Division, in the arrest of a kidnapping suspect.

Detective Castro made contact with Safety Officer Garces on Tuesday morning and provided her with a crime flyer identifying a kidnap suspect. Garces informed the detective she knew the suspect and where the suspect typically hangs out. The suspect was taken into custody within 15 minutes. A job well done by Officer Garces!

Coming Soon! Fashion District Installing New Parking Signs

With Federal Funding thanks to U.S. Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, a Uniform Parking Signage System was developed to enhance District signage with a new emphasis on parking destinations. The system is comprised of three different elements: Vehicle Driving Signs, a Parking App for mobile devices, and Parking Medallion Wall Signs to lead drivers to upper floor parking lots. The goal of the Uniform Parking Signage is to simplify the visitor experience, reduce cruising for a parking place, improve traffic flow and increase brand awareness of the LA Fashion District. Vehicle signs are installed and the Parking App is available at www.fashiondistrict.org. The Parking Lot Medallion Wall Signs are fabricated and ready for installation.

Signs are free to LA Fashion District property owners. Contact Rena Leddy at Rena@fashiondistrict.org, if you are interested.

BID Reducing Water Usage by 27%
In a previous What's New, we mentioned the BID was looking at ways to reduce its water usage in response to Governor Jerry Brown's new water restrictions. The BID is readjusting its pressure washing machines which will reduce the water used by one third. Additionally, the BID is reducing its watering of the Broadway planters and the median on Spring and Main Street intersection. We will monitor both of these planting areas as summer approaches and adjust accordingly.
