58,685 Visitors to the Website in March!
The Fashion District website received 58,685 visitors during the month of March. 55,499 of those were new visitors. This is the most visitors the site has received since it was re-launched last year. Prom has been a big driver of traffic for our site. Our 2014 prom shopping guide is the seventh most visited page on the site and the 2013, 2014, and 2015 Prom Shopping Guides are in the top five most visited blog pages.
The 2014 Prom Shopping Guide is the first link on Google for searches of "prom dresses in Los Angeles" and the second link if you Google "prom dresses Los Angeles".
In addition to prom, the fall 2015 market weeks and shoppers looking to visit the district for Spring Break have also contributed to the spike in website traffic.
SB 608 - "Right to Rest Act" Proposed in Sacramento
The newly proposed "Right to Rest Act" by Senator Liu of District 25 is a re-branded version of a former bill that was defeated in 2013, "The Homeless Bill of Rights". Our concerns about this legislation are the same as two years ago: individuals who suffer from homelessness have a right to housing and shelter. Preserving their "right" to live and eat on the streets and sidewalks of our cities sets us back to a time when homelessness in America was to be "managed" instead of ended!

LA Fashion District to Implement Water Conservation Strategies
The Fashion District BID is in the process of reviewing its water usage. We will be looking at ways to cut back on watering planters and medians, pressure washing, and washing of maintenance vehicles. California is in its 4th year of drought, and Governor Jerry Brown has issued an executive order for the first ever statewide mandatory water reductions.
